September 8th, 15th and 22nd

We've been having a lot of fun in music the last three weeks!
We've been learning about (7th)/reviewing (8th) the staff, clefs, ledger lines, notes and basic rhythms. You can check out http://www.musictheory.net/ to see the first few lessons.
We took a quiz on the 22nd and I just got done grading them with mixed results. Some students did very well and some did very poorly. I'm thinking of splitting the group into two: one who have mastered the basics and one who needs more time to get the basics down. I'll let you know what happens!
We've also been learning some contemporary Christian songs such as Blessed Be Your Name, Take My Life and Lord, I Lift Your Name on High.

1st Day

Today was the first day of music class and we had a lot of fun getting to know one another (7th grade) and catching up (8th grade).
We had a fun music rap activity we did...just fill in the blank and keep a steady beat!
Well __________ is my name and ___________ is my game
You can find me ____________ in the sun and the rain
If you wanna know about __________ and don't know what to do
just call on ____________ and they'll help you!
Uh-huh (echo) x4

Mine went something like this:
Well Jeannette is my name and music is my game
You can find me singing in the sun and the rain
If you wanna know about music and don't know what to do
just call on me and I'll help you

The student's showed great creativity in coming up with their own!
